Description
This souvenir anvil is from the 1990 “Bill Gichner Hammer-In”. These events started in 1980 in the basement of Bill’s shop, Iron Age Antiques, in Ocean View, Delaware. However, they quickly became so popular that they outgrew the space. The Mid-Atlantic Smiths Association stepped in to host the annual events. These anvils were always for sale at the events, and if there were left overs Bill would sell them himself at other blacksmithing events. Bill was a real character and helped many smiths get started in the art and craft of blacksmithing. This 1990 cast bronze souvenir anvil is 5 1/4”l x 1 ¾”w x 2 ¼”h (note: width is measured at the foot) and weighs 1 lb., 6.7 ounces. There is no foundry mark.
The condition is very good and has the original patina. There is a casting flaw as the “9” in '1990' is filled in.
