This cover honors the 10th anniversary of the landing of the Apollo 11 astronauts on the Moon. The cover was prepared by Rockwell International Space Systems Group with a cachet in bright red that depicts the surface of the Moon, the Earth, a Space Capsule and a Space Shuttle. Below the cachet is printed "Ten years ago, we went to the moon. Now, we-re making a better world".
Inside the cover is a two-sided card that describes the Apollo 11 mission and Rockwell International's part in helping the mission become a success. On the reverse of the card is the "Apollo Log" which describes each mission from Apollo 7 through Apollo 17.
The U.S. postage in the upper right of the cover is the 15 cent Ft. McHenry stamp. The cancellation is "Downey, California. The cancellation also has two heavy bars, within which is stamped  "DOWNEY - HOME OF THE SPACESHIPS COLUMBIA 1969-1979" and "July 20, 1979 Space Station Downey, Calif. 90241", the tenth anniversary of Man's First Landing on the Moon during the Apollo 11 mission. The cancellation also includes a likeness of a Command Module similar to the one that Michael Collins was in when he circled the Moon during the Apollo 11 mission and a likeness of the Space Shuttle Columbia, which makes its home in Downey, California.
