    APOLLO 11 TENTH ANNIVERSARY 7/20/79

    FT. MCKINLEY FLAG STAMP SC# 1597
    This cover was cancelled at the Marshall Space Flight Center on July 20, 1979, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing. The circular cancellation includes an Eagle landing on the Moon similar to the Apollo 11 shoulder patch, "Apollo 11" and the Earth in the background.
    The stamp is the 15 cent Ft. McKinley flag stamp SC# 1597.
    The central part of the cachet is a white and blue copy of the Apollo 11 Eagle shoulder patch. Above the patch is printed "Commemoration the 10th Anniversary of the First Manned Lunar Landing Mission July 20, 1969". Below the shoulder patch is printed "Apollo 11 Crew - Astronauts Neil Armstrong, Edwin (Buzz) Aldrin and Michael Collins".
    On the reverse of the cover is an additional cachet picturing an astronaut saluting the American flag, a rocket launch and the gantry. It is "stamped Marshall Space Flight Center Home of Saturn".
    The cover is sealed and addressed.
