The item you are bidding is a 2 1/2" dome stake, lightly polished. This hefty steel stake is built to withstand the heavy use associated with blacksmithing, armoring, and jewelry making cold and hot steel, copper, brass, tin, etc.. The work surface is domed and ideal for forming and planishing a wide variety of metals. The tool is constructed is of tough 60/45/12 ductile iron and has a tapered shank to fit a Dixon type stake plate or fits well in a 7/8" hardy hole of an anvil.
I offer a great bench plate and other tools that fit the same plate.  The mushroom ball stake weighs approx 7 lbs. These, upon more polishing, serve well for copper and silver smiths for any kind of jewelry making piece or metal forming of sculptural vessels
