    Description

    Very rare extra large size Vintage Industrial Cast Iron Whale Tail Tape Dispenser made in Minnesota by the Minnesota Mining and MFG. Co for 3M Scotch Products.  Great Steampunk item for display or use.  This tape dispenser weighs about 8-1/4 pounds and the main body is made of cast iron. The center tape spool is cast metal also but is not magnetic or iron. Tape spool is  about 3" diameter and 2-1/4 wide. Green paint on dispenser is original as is the diamond label on the back. Label reads

    Products. Dispensers Patented U.S. Patent 2,221,213, U.S. Design Patent 127,388. This dispenser patents are from the early 1940's. Dispenser is about 9" long, 4-7/8" wide, and 4-5/16" high. Tape opening is about 2-1/2" wide and 5-1/4" long. Cutting blade is 2-1/2" long. It works very well with standard cellophane tape, it will cut the thicker packaging tape but not easily as it was not designed for the strength of todays tapes. This huge dispenser will attract peoples attention. Because of the size and weight this item will be shipped in a Medium Flat Rate Priority box. Tape roll not included.
